Hong Kong Christmas brunches

Barkada

Brunch dates: December 16, 23-26 — 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Barkada’s Christmas karaoke brunch pays homage to hearty Filipino dishes. For starters, they offer Shanghai spring rolls and spiced fried popcorn. The next “stop” is family-style dishes: crispy pork belly, spicy coconut noodles, “sizzling” sisig pork (a spicy Filipino dish of pork ears, feet, and cheeks) and pork in pineapple glaze. The last dish will be on the restaurant’s menu exclusively during December 24-26.

Also, what’s Christmas without desserts? You should definitely try the ube cheese bibingka, a delicious rice cake served with coconut sauce, or the Filipino-style fruit panna cotta. Once the clock strikes 2 p.m., the karaoke party will begin. Book your tables now. Otherwise, you’ll miss out.

Price: $498 per person including non-alcoholic beverages, $718 per person if you want to celebrate Christmas with alcohol.

Ole Spanish Restaurant & Wine Bar

Brunch dates: until January 4, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays at 11:30 a.m. or 1:45 p.m.

Looking for anything but a traditional Christmas lunch? Then you might enjoy an eight-course brunch menu. It begins with light appetizers including tomatoes and toast with manchego and arugula, followed by padrón peppers with romesco sauce, jumbo lump crab, and parsnip parmentier with truffle oil.

After that, it’s all Spanish: red shrimp paella with sea urchin aioli, Segovian-style roasted suckling pig, or wagyu beef cooked in Rioja red wine with truffle purée. The brunch concludes with a classic assortment of Spanish desserts. How can you resist fried churros with chocolate sauce or Catalan cream with orange flambé?

Price: $588 per person.
